An Alcohol Addicted Person Goes To Alcohol Rehabilitation And Receives Alcohol Detoxification And Rehab For His Alcohol Dependency
Donald used to boast to his friends how he could maintain a 40 hour per week job and get drunk as a skunk almost every night. Unfortunately, after involving himself in this destructive lifestyle for nearly five years, he began to have different alcohol related problems.
For instance, he had a real difficult time getting up for work because he felt so sleepy when he awoke. Furthermore, just about every morning Donald suffered from a severe hangover. It was apparent that the combination of his lack of energy and his hangovers did not make it easy for him to get up and feel motivated to go to work. To add fuel to the fire, he just received his third driving under the influence arrest in the past eight weeks.
To further complicate things, at his job his last two performance appraisals were less than acceptable. And finally, his three-year relationship with his girlfriend had worsened due to his financial difficulties, depression, lack of patience, and his angry outbursts.
Though Donald was only twenty seven years old, he simply started looking like he was in his early forties. Unfortunately, this is what careless drinking can do to a person. And from a realistic perspective he knew that he was suffering from the adverse consequences of alcoholism or alcohol abuse and that he was too young to fritter away his life to abusive and careless drinking. So at first he tried to drink in moderation. Unfortunately, he soon realized that he lost all control after having his first drink. Due to the fact that this was an incident that was repeated every single time he drank, this greatly worried him. In actual fact, he began to wonder if he was displaying some of the stages of alcoholism.
After mentioning his alcohol drinking problems and his abusive and excessive drinking with his lady friend, he finally decided to schedule an appointment to see his healthcare practitioner. When Donald saw his healthcare professional, he genuinely declared that he has been drinking in a hazardous manner, that he may be exhibiting behavior characteristic of the various alcoholism stages, and that he wants to stop drinking. He then said that drinking responsibly and in moderation does not seem to work for him and consequently, he wants to learn how he can develop an alcohol-free lifestyle.
Donald also told his family doctor about his depression and how this mental health problem was negatively affecting his relationship with his lady friend. His doctor referred Donald to Doctor Brand, an alcohol and drug addiction specialist, who inspired Donald to enroll in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation clinic as an in-patient for alcohol detoxification and alcohol rehab. The good news is that Donald would also be able to get medical treatment for his depression at this facility.
After three months of intensive treatment, Donald left the residential rehab center and continued his recovery via outpatient counseling and via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Encouraged to change his life in a healthier manner, Donald joined a gym and began working out two or three times per week. Within four months Donald was a new person. He was not depressed anymore, he was in shape, he was eating nutritious meals, and most important of all, he maintained his sobriety for many months. He also did not resort to angry outbursts, he became more patient, and he became a more compassionate person in his relationship with his girlfriend. Simply put, getting and staying sober was the best decision Donald had ever made.
